The County Treasurer’s Office by state law is responsible for the tax billing, collection and distribution of real estate, personal property, intangible and motor vehicle taxes, special assessments and other miscellaneous money for the State, County, Cities, Townships, School Districts, Fire Districts, Watersheds and Cemeteries.
The Treasurer as the County’s Financial Officer, is also responsible for all other moneys belonging to Marshall County as directed by law to be paid to the Treasurer. While the money is in the possession of the county, it is the Treasurer’s responsibility to invest the funds according to state statutes. The County earns interest on the money during the short time that the funds are in their possession.
In addition, the Treasurer serves as an agent for the Kansas Department of Revenue, Division of Vehicles regarding the administration of the vehicle titles and registrations in the County. The office also serves as a satellite station for Kansas Drivers License.
One of the services offered by the office is the monthly payment plan for property taxes, Escrow Payment Plan, which is becoming more popular with Marshall County Taxpayers.
The office sells Temporary Boat Permits.
The office of County Treasurer is provided for in K.S.A. 19-501-548. It is an elected position, elected in presidential election years. The term of office is from the 2nd Tuesday in October following the election year and runs for 4 years. The term of office coincides with the county tax year.

- To provide friendly, efficient and professional service to all customers in the collection of property taxes, registering vehicles, titling vehicles and making all other payments due to the County.
- To safeguard the taxpayer’s money through diligent investment efforts with safety being the first concern, liquidity being the second and the rate of return the third.
- To keep accurate accounting records of all transactions made by the County and provide any information needed by individuals and all departments.
