Welcome to Marshall County, Kansas, one of the most northern counties of the state. Named for Frank Marshall, and organized on August 25, 1855, Marshall County was one of the original 33 counties organized by the Territorial Legislature. Marshall County contains the cities of Summerfield, Blue Rapids, Beattie, Marysville, Axtell, Vermillion, Oketo, Frankfort and Waterville.
Marshall County has played an important role in the history of Kansas. Marysville is home to the first post office in Kansas Territory, which opened on November 11, 1854. In 1860, Marysville was established as a "home station" on the Pony Express route. And the Central Branch of the Union Pacific Railroad entered into the county in 1867.
